Algarve surf trip - day 3 (and last)
Since it was our last day, we packed things in the morning and drove north through the west coast. A new swell came in, and it was huge everywhere.
Monte Clérigo:
Arrifana was the only surfable spot in the area. Too big for us though. The beach break:
This guy got a beating after bailing the wave:
The right pointbreak:
We kept driving north and checking the beaches along the way.
Odeceixe:
Zambujeira do mar:
We ended up surfing in S. Torpes, right south of Sines.
It had a lot of rips due to the pier and rivermouth, but it was the only surfable spot we found since morning.
These were taken after everybody left the water:

Algarve surf trip - day 1
Since Feb 5th was a holiday here, I took the 4th off and went on a surf trip with a friend last saturday to Algarve (in the south of Portugal). We arrived in the evening, so only went surfing sunday morning.
It was strong onshore on all the south coast, so the only chance was the west coast around Sagres. After some traveling through the middle of nowhere...
We finally found a spot reasonably protected from the strong winds
Had a few waves there, but the conditions were worse than what it looks. Better than nothing, though.
On the way back home, we checked Zavial, on the south coast. I'll post a video with Zavial pumping some other day.
More photos tomorrow!
